Have you ever noticed that you feel comfortable and good at some places and not so much at others? Some restaurants, hotels you want to come back to and some you won’t even remember the name of? At some parties you feel like at home and others, you just can’t help but feel like you want to leave as soon as possible even though people hosting the party are really nice?..
Albert Hadley, an American interior designer and decorator once said: “Decoration is really about creating a quality of life and a beauty in that life that nourishes the soul… That’s what interior design is all about, not just what’s in and what’s out.”
Starting from my teenage years, I couldn’t help but notice all the little details of interior everywhere around me. It has always excited me!.. So I have started rearranging furniture at my parent’s house and experimenting with pieces of decor. Of course, dad and boys of the family were not feeling it since I’ve made them do all this extra work of mowing heavy furniture hehe. But thankfully my mom was always supportive! I think I got the love for interior design from her 😉 If you guys would see my work back then you would probably laugh… We were a middle class Ukrainian family, living in a small town, trying to make the best out of what we had at the time which was not a lot. But our situation made me use my imagination more! John Mason, bestselling author, minister and motivational speaker once said: “not accepting the present creates a future”!!!
So here I am, 10 years later living in a urban style apartments and enjoying every minute of my life doing what i love – interior design. A lot of time has passed… I’ve grown up and become independent. I have access to all the information and all the resources I need… But, that teenage girl, a dreamer, is still here, giving it all to create a comfortable, cozy living.
Now a days I don’t just believe but know for a fact that creating a right atmosphere, whether it’s at home, business office, restaurant or any other place, is very important! Let me tell you more, for businesses such as real estate in particular it’s one of the crucial factors of success. A survey conducted by Coldwater Banker Real Estate Corporation discovered that staged homes are usually sold 6% above the asking price and spend 73% less time on the market when compared to unstaged homes. In fact, over 81% of buyers find it easier to visualize the property as their future home when it’s staged, which leads to offers being made. Also NAR (National Association of Realtors) survey reveals that a 1-3% investment on home staging yields 8-10% return, which is great!
We all have our strong and weak sides, each have our own talents. That’s what makes the world we live in an interesting place. If interior design is not one of your strongest sides it’s okay! Let the professionals help you create an atmosphere that your family will enjoy or your business will benefit from.
